Wedding Rings And The Glamour Of Gold

People often choose gold wedding rings because of the longstanding association of gold as a precious metal.

Your wedding rings are jewelry that the bride and groom will be wearing forever, 'til death do us part, as the words of the ceremony say! So it is important for the couple to purchase a wedding band that they both like and feel good about.

Why Gold?

Gold is a material metal that can easily be bent and shaped. However, when united with other materials gold becomes more hardwearing.  There are many styles of gold wedding rings. There are gold rings differing in price from 14 kt gold to twenty four karat gold. Twenty four kt gold wedding rings are the purest style of gold bands - but they may not the most durable, because gold is such a soft metal in its purest form.

That's why many jewelers are reluctant to use high karat gold setting for precious stones. 18 kt gold wedding rings appear to allow a happy medium. They are durable and furthermore give a splendid gold shade. Alternatively, if you are planning to order a wedding ring that is going withstand wear and tear you might go for a 14 karat gold ring. But bear in mind the problem that when gold is united with other materials it sometimes fades the look of gold itself.

What About White Gold?

If you would prefer to opt for a wedding ring that is not yellow gold it's conceivable that white gold may be right for you. White gold looks like silver but has a yellow shading to it and is less disposed to break down or tarnish than silver wedding rings.

It's often the case that a white gold ring will have a thin coating of another metal, such as rhodium, which is similar to platinum.

What Style Of Gold Ring Would Suit Me?

Think about whether you both want a wedding band with a design or just a plain set of rings. It is common for couples to choose the same wedding band - that is, if the man is going to wear a ring (some choose not to, even today.) Often, the bride may want to match her wedding ring with the engagement ring. Many societies have seen a symbolic importance in the 'never-ending circle' of the gold wedding ring.

You can have a plain wedding ring that offers simple luxury, or you can choose to have diamonds built into your gold wedding ring. Eternity wedding rings are pleasing with diamonds embedded all around the ring and are a super way to show your love to your spouse.

Inscriptions On Your Gold Wedding Ring

Wedding bands can be inscribed with words from a favorite song, perhaps one that the two of you shared during your engagement or when you first met. The inscription and its meaning are a part of the fondest moments of your life, a sentiment to be kept forever. Wedding bands of gold, silver, platinum, or titanium may be inscribed with any message you choose, as well as with symbols orcharacters from international languages.

Even with men's gold wedding rings, adding an accent in the form of a diamond or two can distinguish his ring from the general gold wedding rings a lot of men usually wear.  If your husband insists on a simple gold ring without diamonds, you may want to think about getting hold of a bevelled type. This style of wedding ring lends simple but elegant style to the ordinary gold wedding ring.

Be Comfortable Wearing Your Ring

Above all, choose a wedding ring that you will feel most comfortable wearing. It is essential that both of you be comfortable with the rings that you choose, because you may well be wearing these rings for a lifetime. Whatever you decide, just remember that the rings are a symbol of your love - and that's what really counts. So try not to get too stressed  over the ring selection process!
